Warmer next few days, cooler again next week

Warmer next few days, cooler again next week

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

THIS AFTERNOON: It's a mostly sunny day with some high clouds moving in from the west, temperature running slightly below average...upper 50s to lower 60s. There's a monster winter storm over the Northeast. To our west upper-level higher pressure means it'll get warmer here next few days.

It was cold this morning, low of 22 at the Lubbock airport. Here are some colder readings from the Texas Tech Mesonet:

Muleshoe 13
Silverton 15
Tatum 15
Aiken 16
Anton 16
Earth 17
Friona 17
Amherst 18
Floydada 18
Ralls 18
Tulia 18
Morton 19

TONIGHT: Clouds increasing, low near 36. Wind SE/S 5-15mph.

TOMORROW: Warmer, partly cloudy, high near 71. Wind S/SW 10-18mph.

WARMER DAYS: It'll be up near 80 both Friday and Saturday with a lot of sun. The SW wind will be gusty Saturday, followed by a strong N/NE wind Saturday night into Sunday.

COOLER AGAIN: The average high next week is at 66 and we'll likely stay below that mark the first half of the week. Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of support for rain. Models are showing some weak lift moving across our area with limited moisture. It's not promising for showers here, though we can't rule out a few sprinkles. The latest run of models have backed off on the meager rain potential here. At this point it does look more promising for some showers in New Mexico.

7-day forecast

Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast here early tomorrow.
