The man accused of shooting his gun in the South Plains Mall on New Years Eve has been indicted on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police say 30-year-old Detrick Montgomery reportedly tried to shoot Danny Lee and Angel McNeal, husband and wife, near a childrens play area outside the Footaction store.

According to investigators Montgomery had been feuding with Lee and McNeal.

McNeal is the mother of Montgomery's children.

Lee said Montgomery shot him in the leg back in 2015 but he did not press charges so Montgomery did not have to go to prison and be away from his children.

Police said Montgomery has an extensive criminal history and felony convictions. He is currently on parole until 2039 for a domestic violence conviction.
