Lubbock Police officers responded to a fatal, single vehicle crash last Friday. The driver of the SUV, 65-year-old Albert Evans, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Evans was a resident of Pearland, Texas.

(LUBBOCK, TX) – The Lubbock Police Department is investigating a deadly rollover on South East Loop 289 Friday afternoon.

At approximately 12:15 p.m., officers responded to reports of a single vehicle crash in the area of SE Loop 289 and East Slaton Highway. Officers located a damaged SUV in the westbound access road of  SE Loop 289. The male driver, and only occupant of the SUV, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Accident Investigators responded to the area to begin their investigation. Initial information gathered at the scene indicates the SUV was traveling north east on SE Loop 289. It appears the SUV crossed the median and continued across the south west lanes of the loop. The SUV then struck a guardrail and rolled onto the access road before coming to a stop.

The circumstances surrounding this crash remain under investigation by the LPD Accident Investigation Unit.
