High speed chase leads to arrest

LUBBOCK COUNTY, Texas -

Texas DPS reports a man is arrested following a high speed chase.

Sunday afternoon, DPS troopers attempted to stop a Chevy Impala at 82nd and Ave P for a traffic violation, when the car sped off.

The car evaded several agencies including Lubbock Sheriff's deputies, Lynn County Sheriff's deputies, and Terry County Sheriff's deputies.

DPS reports about 45 minutes later, the car finally stopped on FM 2641, just east of County Road 1440.

The driver, Jacob Silvas Jr., 33, of Petersburg, was taken into custody without incident.

Silva was charged with evading a motor vehicle, tampering/fabricating evidence, and possession of marijuana.
