LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Texas Tech University Companion Animal Science Program will host the first of several pet adoption events throughout the spring in an effort to not only find forever homes for lovable pets but also study the effectiveness of community adoption events.

The event will feature 21 adoptable dogs from local rescue facilities that are ready to be adopted. The prices for adoption will depend on the rescue facility handling the adoption for a particular dog.

Additional adoption events will be held Feb. 17, March 17, March 31, April 28 and May 12.

Researchers from the Department of Animal & Food Sciences’ Companion Animal Science Program in the College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources will also be observing the event as part of a study to better understand community adoption events. It is approved by the Human Research Protection Program at Texas Tech.
